Introduction

The AWC Leadership Development Centre for Women and Girls (LDCWG) was officially inaugurated in Abuja, Nigeria, on September 30, 2019, as a collaborative effort between the Africa Women Conference and Nassarawa State University Keffi. The center aims to equip women, girls, and young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to assume leadership roles in their communities. This curriculum encompasses a wide range of educational activities aimed at promoting efficiency, dedication, and selflessness in service to the state, the nation, and the global community.

Student Enrollment

The center received an overwhelming response, with over 50 applicants expressing interest in its programs. However, after a rigorous selection process, approximately 20 applicants successfully met the criteria for admission into the LDCWG. Classes are currently ongoing, providing participants with opportunities for personal and career growth.

SheForum Africa

Notably, the SheForum Africa a home-grown Pan-Africa Women Development, Leadership & Lifestyle Organisation led by Ms. Inimfon Etuk, played a pivotal role in sponsoring the education of ten (10) deserving students, enabling them to pursue their leadership development journey at the center.

The AWC Leadership Development Centre for Women and Girls represents a proactive approach to addressing the gender gap in leadership and fostering sustainable community development across Africa. With its partnership, curriculum development, and Non-Governmental Organisation like SheForum Africa, the center is poised to make a significant impact in empowering women, girls, and young people to become effective leaders in their communities and Africa at large.
